Healthy Dog Food?

When I was growing up, we always fed our dogs Purina Dog Chow. Now, as an adult, I still like Purina and feed my dog Purina Pro Plan Weight Management.

I realize that this is not the healthiest food on the market. I'd like to make sure my dog is eating a nutritious and healthy food. What do you feed your dog? Do you think a grain-free food is better for dogs?

I try to go the grain-free route and buy Wellness Core dry dog food and a mix of Wellness, Natural Balance, and Nature's Variety wet food. I don't really think it's making a difference though. They seem no better off than when I fed them Purina. I think it's important to choose a variety with meat as the first ingredient.
