Genes From Good Breed Affecting The Behavior Of Dogs

My friend, who is breeding Siberian Huskies for pet shows, told me that a well-trained and a good breed of dog can produce puppies that are easy to train. Is there truth in this or is it just my friend's perception?

I would agree, if we have a track record of parents/grandparents that have been trained to a high level it shows that litters have a chance of being great learners. I seen some breeders have a large bloodline tree recorded.

I did some research on breeders and blood line history and most also agree. I like when we have data to compare. I’m a believer :)

Although I haven't done any research on it like you have, I agree that lineage matters. I like to watch the Westminster dog shows, and they seem very interested in the bloodlines of those animals. I figure if it matters to them, then bloodlines are a big deal.
Of course, dogs are individual creatures and have their own personalities just like people do, so there could be a "rogue puppy" among the bunch:), but I think the track record of a dog's family speaks volumes.

I also believe that good lineage can produce better looking and more behave pups. Dog breeders have done this for a long time already and if this system doesn't work then they would have stopped doing it.

Thanks for your insights. The things you guys have said made sense. The characteristics and appearance of the dogs will change after being trained and groomed well.

Out of curiosity, is it possible now to breed dogs through petri-dish with the technological advancement? Breeders can choose the genetic outcome of the puppy through genetic modification if this is possible.
